Abu Bakr Supermarket has launched a heartfelt Mother’s Day campaign encouraging shoppers to celebrate and care for their mothers all year round — not just on one day of the year.

The campaign, titled “Heaven Is at Your Mother’s Feet”, draws inspiration from the well-known teaching “Heaven lies beneath the feet of mothers,” which emphasises the high status, honour and reverence given to mothers. The tradition serves as a reminder that serving one’s mother with love, humility and care is a direct path to Paradise.

While the campaign launches ahead of Mother’s Day, the message behind it is much broader: that appreciation, kindness and support for mothers should be a lifelong commitment rather than a once-a-year gesture.

A central part of the campaign will see Abu Bakr Supermarket actively celebrating the everyday moment’s families share with their mothers. Across its stores and social media channels, the retailer will spotlight family-focused shopping moments, encouraging customers to share how they spend time with their mums — whether that’s cooking together, doing the weekly shop side by side, or simply making time for them in their daily lives and for those who care for their elderly mothers.

The initiative reflects what staff regularly see in store: families shopping together across generations, with mothers often at the centre of the experience. Rather than a quick individual visit, many customers arrive as families — parents, children and grandparents — making the weekly shop a shared moment that reinforces family bonds.

Hamza Hussain, Managing Director of Abu Bakr Supermarket, said: “Mother’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to say thank you, but our message is that mothers deserve our respect, care and time every day of the year. In many of the families we serve, shopping is a shared experience — you’ll often see several generations together in our aisles, with mum right at the centre of it all.

“The phrase ‘Heaven is at your mother’s feet’ reminds us of the honour mothers hold in our lives. To ‘be at her feet’ signifies showing utmost humility and devotion to her. Acknowledgement of Sacrifice: It recognises the immense physical and emotional hardships mothers endure during pregnancy, childbirth, and upbringing.

“But the tradition also reminds us that the key to the door of heaven is the father — meaning both parents together play a vital role in building strong families. Our campaign is about celebrating that family bond and encouraging people to look after their mums for life, not just on Mother’s Day. By simply smiling at your mother, we believe there is a great reward in such a simple act.

“And as for those whose mothers have unfortunately passed, we encourage them to give in charity to honour them.”

Through the campaign, Abu Bakr Supermarket hopes to encourage customers across Yorkshire to recognise the importance of mothers not only through gifts or gestures on Mother’s Day, but through consistent care, presence and appreciation throughout the year.
